Our Story
808 Master Suite in Santa Barbara weaves together the personal journey of Chad Merkley - an artist who discovered the language of storytelling first through the keys of a Roland piano and later through the lens of film editing. After years performing on cruise ships and at private events, Chad found his deeper calling not in the spotlight, but in curating environments where the spotlight illuminated shared human experience. A graduate of Dodge College at Chapman University, he shaped cinematic stories for film and music, always guided by the steady undercurrent of rhythm and emotion. 808 Master Suite emerged from this impulse: an ambition to give back, to transcend spectacle, and to offer others the serenity and connection he once sought himself. Every detail reflects Chad's belief that true hospitality is a living canvas - melding music, atmosphere, and artistry into an immersive journey that honors each guest's story. Through 808, he invites guests to step inside a world where celebration becomes ritual, and every moment is crafted for meaning and transformation.
Our Philosophy & Vision

Our philosophy draws inspiration from the harmony of nature, the power of ritual, and the belief that true hospitality honors both the individual and the collective story. Within 808 Master Suite, partnership and creativity flourish, setting the stage for a new movement where art, wellness, and celebration unite to create unforgettable moments.

Founder & Creative Director
Chad Merkley
808 Master Suite, based in Santa Barbara, is led by Chad Merkley - Founder & Creative Director - whose background as a classically trained pianist and feature film editor shapes the brand's distinctive narrative. Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Dodge College at Chapman University, Chad's journey began on a Roland piano, discovering the expressive power of music and rhythm early in life. Years spent performing for cruise lines and private events revealed the depth of storytelling through sound, yet he longed for a way to inspire quietly, away from the solo spotlight. Chad's transition into film editing further honed his attention to story, mood, and immersive experience. These elements now converge at 808 Master Suite, where his vision is to offer transformative, cinematic hospitality and wellness ventures that honor both memory and artistry. Chad's enduring connection to music and his desire to give back breathe life into every suite experience, infusing each moment with intention, beauty, and the artistry of storytelling.
